Community Enrichment Classes

We believe that theatre has the potential to inspire and educate while being an effective vehicle for personal growth. We offer a wide range of after-school and weekend classes for elementary, school-age children through school districts across the Twin Cities metro area. These introductory classes are designed to stimulate student creativity and imagination as well as foster an appreciation of theatre.

Showtime!  Goodnight Moon (Grades 1 - 2)

For 60 years, a certain little bunny has cleverly avoided going to bed by saying “Goodnight” to everything in sight. Join us for a lovely, lyrical journey into the world of this beloved bedtime book. Students work with a professional educator from Stages Theatre Company to build beginning acting skills like imagination, creative expression and cooperation. This is a wonderful class for brand-new actors to explore the magical world of theatre. Each student receives a free ticket to a Stages Theatre Company production. Family and friends are invited to a portion of the final class for a sharing of skills learned.

Showtime!  How I Became a Pirate (Grades K - 2)

When young Jeremy Jacobs is invited aboard a pirate ship, hilarious moments abound as they sail in search of buried treasure!  Based on the award-winning book by Melinda Long and illustrator David Shannon, this lively class will introduce young girls and boys to the joys of song, dance and story. Students work with a professional educator from Stages Theatre Company as they learn important skills for musical theatre: creativity, movement and vocal expression. Families are invited to a portion of the final class for a sharing of skills learned. Each student will receive a free ticket to a Stages Theatre Company production. (No class Oct. 18)

Things That Go Bump… (Grades 3 – 5)

Ever wondered, "What are the things that go bump in the night?"  Here’s your chance to create your own, unique spooky story. A professional educator from Stages Theatre Company will guide students in the creation of an original scary story for the stage. Students will have fun reading and writing about an engaging theme, while learning beginning acting skills like cooperation, self-confidence and self- expression. Families are invited to a portion of the final class for a sharing of skills learned. Each student will receive a free ticket to a Stages Theatre Company production. (No class Oct.18)
