Youth Organizations

Scout Troop - Theatre Workshops

About the Program

Your troop can attend two one-hour workshops and have the opportunity to attend a Stages Theatre Company performance. Each workshop is designed for scouts to get involved, and learn about the world of theatre through exciting games and activities.

Our pre-show and post-show workshops address several elements of the Girl Scout Brownie "Let's Pretend" Try-it and the Junior "Theater" Badge.

Pre-Show and Post-Show Workshop Topics

Actors at Play

Did you know that actors have three primary tools that they use on stage? In this hour- long workshop, students will discover what these tools are and how they too can use them. Scouts will also learn acting techniques, warm ups and exercises from a Stages' Teaching Artist.

Make-Up Makeover

How do they do that? In this workshop, students will learn how actors transform themselves into a variety of characters using make-up. Scouts will learn beginning techniques, design a character face and have the opportunity to become that character. Leaders will be amazed as their scouts transform their imagined designs into live characters.

Workshops are Held:

Saturdays: Workshops from 10 a.m. to noon*: Show time at 1 p.m.
Sundays: Workshops from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Show time at 2 p.m.

Cost: $25 per scout (price includes workshop supplies and show tickets)

In order to participate, we ask for a minimum number of 10 scouts and a maximum number of 16 per group. Each group must be accompanied by two leaders, with a maximum of five. The first two leaders attend free of charge; an additional $25 is required for each additional leader attending.

Artist Residency

Through a variety of options, youth from your organization can participate in performance-based workshops or use theatre, improvisation, playwriting, or dance to explore their world in a dramatic way. Our teaching artists, working professionals from in and around the Metro area, collaborate with mentors and youth workers to custom-tailored programs for students with different styles of learning.

We offer a positive, safe and supportive learning environment that stimulates artistic excellence as well as personal growth. Students participating in Stages Theatre Company residencies have shown improved social skills such as leadership and cooperation.

Any of our residency or partnership programs for educators are easily adaptable for work with youth organizations. Please contact our Education Program Manager, Cassandra Proball, for more information: (952) 979-1138 or at ccproball@stagestheatre.org.
