AUDITIONS AT STAGES
We typically audition youth ages 10-18 for our productions. Adult actor auditions will be posted as needed. We begin taking audition appointments 2 weeks prior to the audition dates listed below. Auditions, rehearsals & performances are held at Stages Theatre Company, located in the Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins 55343.
Please contact our Audition Coordinator Emily Sullivan by emailing esullivan@stagestheatre.org about any accommodations you may need for your upcoming audition with us. We are happy to provide materials in advance, large print scripts, or other requests as needed. Just ask!

SEEKING: Youth actors ages 10-18.
We seek a diverse cast and encourage actors of all ethnicities, cultures, gender identities, socioeconomic status and (dis)abilities to audition.
For our production of Newsies Jr. we highly encourage young artists with disabilities to audition for the role of Crutchie. We seek to represent the authentic and lived experience of disability with Crutchie and to explore new representations of all characters in the cast. To that end we will consider artists with disabilities for all roles.
We encourage you to contact us at auditions@stagestheatre.org about any accommodations you may need for your upcoming audition. We are happy to provide materials in advance, large print scripts, or other requests as needed.
WHAT TO PREPARE: For Newsies Jr, actors should prepare a song of two minutes or less to be sung acapella (without accompaniment). Please dress for movement. A short dance will be taught at the audition.
LOCATION: All auditions, rehearsals and performances for DISNEY’S NEWSIES, JR. will take place at Stages Theatre Company, located in the Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins, MN.

HEALTH & SAFETY STATEMENT:For these productions, all those auditioning must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by their assigned audition date. A booster dose is required of everyone cast in the show, if eligible. During auditions, all performers & Stages staff will be required to wear a face mask. At this time, we plan to rehearse with masks and perform without masks.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
YOUTH ROLES
Raymie Clarke, A young girl who wants to be a problem solver but suffers from self-doubt. She feels deeply but cannot always express emotions openly.
Beverly Tapinsky, A seemingly fearless young girl, whose toughness hides feelings of doubt.
Louisiana Elefante, A young girl who is not afraid of showing her emotions but is afraid of just about everything else.
YOUTH ENSEMBLE (5-7 actors) will play multiple roles, in addition to creating the environment and creating Raymie’s dreams.
Roles played by the youth ensemble include Martha, the Very Friendly Animal Center Receptionist, Ruthie, Ida Nee (baton teacher), Little Miss Central Florida Tire contest officials and attendees, photographer, reporter, Mrs Borowki’s daughter, Janitor at the Golden Glen Nursing Home, plus various dream roles & voices.
ADULT ROLES
ADULT ROLES 1. plays the middle-aged women in Raymie’s life, Raymie’s mother, Beverly’s mother Mrs. Sylvester and voice of Alice Nebbley
ADULT ROLES 2. plays the old-aged women in Raymie’s life, Mrs. Borkowski, Isabelle and Granny.
The play is best served if all the roles are played by female identifying actors, or actors who are comfortable playing female characters.
