Crowns and Capes –  Some royal characters are big heroes and some superheroes are pretty fancy. We don’t want to choose, so let’s be both!  Join well-known princesses and superheroes like Belle, Rapunzel, Elsa, Elena, Tiana, PJ Masks, and DC Comic Kids. You could also meet new ones through books such as Not All Princesses Dress in Pink and BRAVE.

Animal Dance Jam – Welcome to your personal animal dance party! This summer we are hanging out with Baby Shark, Giraffes Can’t Dance, Secret Pizza Party, Flora the Flamingo, and Barnyard Dance. Together, we will get in the groove and shake our tails to these favorite stories and tunes.

Pigeon Presents! –  Mo Willems has created some of our very favorite books: the Pigeon books, Elephant & Piggie adventures, Knuffle Bunny, and Leonardo, the Terrible Monster series to name a few.  We are taking these hilarious characters off the page and onto the stage! With creative dramatics, voice, and movement, young actors will use their imaginations to tell a new story that even the Pigeon would approve.

Unicorns, Dragons, & other Sensible Pets –  Kids love their pets! Using our Actor’s Toolboxes, we will bring to life the tales of our favorite animals, inspired by books such as Best Pet of All, Goldilious, Unicorn Named Sparkle, Dragons Love Tacos,  and What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night.

Mermaids & fish Tales –  Hope you know how to hold your breath! We are going under the sea with our favorite ocean dwellers – Ariel, Dory, Rainbow Fish, Not Quite Narwal, and The Singing Mermaid. Your young actors will be flipping their fins, and creating a play of their own underwater tale using their voices, bodies, and imaginations!

Amazing Me – ONSTAGE! –  Building confidence, recognizing differences as strengths, and loving who we are starts here! There are lots of cool books that agree with us. Inspired by I Like Myself, Ellie, Happy Dreamer, A Color of His Own, Dream Big, I am Enough,  and Nerdy Birdy, your little ones will have a blast acting out their unique awesomeness onstage!

Family and friends are invited to a final showcase presentation on the last day of class.

Positively Popstar  (sing and dance) – We love singing along to the radio, how about you? We are taking it a step further and adding a story to our favorite radio tunes. Inspired by Kidz Bop, RadioDisney, and other avenues of kid-appropriate pop music, we will work with students to adapt music from popular musicians to create unique musical stories for the stage.

The Greatest Showman’s Greatest Hits (sing and dance) –  The Greatest Showman is the big top musical that just won’t quit – and we don’t want it to!  We will “come alive” for the “greatest show” while we “rewrite the stars.”  Stages Teaching Artists will guide students as they create a tale using the popular movie as the starting point. “You are who you’re meant to be, this is me.“

Brilliantly Broadway (sing and dance) – Perform like the next big Broadway star! In this workshop, we will develop our “star-power” singing and dancing to our favorite musicals like The Lion King, School of Rock, Aladdin, Newsies, and Finding Neverland. Your young actors will learn songs and choreography from the shows, connect them through group-devised story, and gain confidence to take the stage!

Marvel Universe Mania (acting) – Calling all heroes! Something’s stirring in the balance for good and evil at Stages Summer Theatre Workshop and we need YOU to help save the day! Follow in the footsteps of Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, and the other Avengers to create the ultimate superhero flick!

Diary Drama for Dorks and Wimpy Kids (acting) – Welcome to diary-style drama! Inspired by the book series of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, My Life as a Book, and Tales of a 4th grade Nothing, we are going to combine first-person narratives to make plays of real-life adventure!

Family and friends are invited to a showcase of skills learned on the Friday of each session at 2:30 pm in the theatre at FAIR School, Crystal Campus.
Showcases include all workshops for ages 7-13 and typically last an hour.

The Triwizard Tournament (acting) – Hogwarts is back, big-time. With the Cursed Child debut and re-release of the Harry Potter series in graphic novels, it’s time to dig into the magical world with more gusto than ever. This summer we are holding the Triwizard Tournament between the most famous wizarding schools! Combining legends inspired by J.K. Rowling’s series with acting skills, your developing actor will explore adventure, intrigue, and the competing stories of this beloved world.

The Show Choir Camp (sing and dance) – At Stages, we love singing and dancing, so you better believe we are into Show Choir too. The Show Choir Camp provides
an outstanding opportunity to gain experience in this genre. By working with professionals, your young actor will develop greater musicianship, proper use of breath support, phrasing, interpretation, postures, stage presence, and the other disciplines needed in a show choir. The Show Choir Camp is appropriate for all abilities.

Graphix Gang (acting) – Following popular and enduring graphic novel series like Hey, Kiddo, The Amulet series, and The Babysitters Club, your young actor will learn to tell stories of family, friendship, conflict, and wild imagination. Geared for building storytelling and dynamic acting skills in your developing actor, this workshop will show the importance of just being you.

Broadway Today (sing and dance) –  The shows that fill Broadway in New York City are going to fill this workshop at Stages!  This summer, we are going to bring (appropriate) musical numbers and scenes from popular shows like Hamilton, Be More Chill, Once on This Island, and Mean Girls to life on our very own sound stage. Strong focus on developing triple threats – singing, dancing, acting!

Family and friends are invited to a showcase of skills learned on the Friday of each session at 2:30pm in the theatre at FAIR School, Crystal.
Showcases include all workshops for ages 7-13 and typically last an hour.

Write Here, Right Now – This summer, we want to ask our teenagers to dig into the world they live in to find inspiration to tell stories. Books such as  To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertelli will spark our imagination as we create and perform a play that is inspired by the young actors’ own lives, and hearts. Together we will create a safe place of creativity to form friendships, form new ideas, and tell important stories.
