TRUDY MONETTE (Center Stage)

What is the thing in your acting class that you love to teach the most?

I love teaching students to work as an ensemble, watching them realize it’s not all about an individual. They learn to trust and depend on each other.

What inspires you as an artist?

I’m inspired when I read a book or see a picture, photo or people interacting. I often think wow that would make a great scene or I’d love to choreograph a piece reflecting that moment.

What is your best moment as an artist?

My best moment as an artist. There are two. The first would be performing on stage at the legendary Apollo Theater because of the history. The second would be performing in Switzerland. We were from different countries and spoke different languages but were able to connect.

What is your favorite moment as a teaching artist?

There are many but my favorite moment as a teaching artist would be when I heard the words “Wow, it really is more fun when you pay attention!”
