Theatre Education Programs
Building Confidence, Creativity & Community Through Theatre
At Stages Theatre Company, every child can shine. Whether stepping onto the stage for the first time or growing as a performer, our education programs offer something for every age and experience level.
Where Growth Takes Center Stage
From preschoolers to teens, our curriculum is designed to support young people as they develop theatrical skills—and self-confidence—at every stage.
School Year Programs
Creative Play
Ages 2-5
Theatre Exploration
Kindergarten - Grade 3
Students learn to use their “Actor Tools”—body, voice, and imagination – to play, create and tell stories! Theatre Exploration classes incorporate age-appropriate acting games, dramatic play, music, storytelling, and theatre making. Students share their work for family and friends during the final day of class.
Actor Training
Grade 4-8
Students delve into their actor training through a series of classes designed to build performance skills and confidence and develop student artists for success in whatever they may pursue. Students examine devised and scripted work, explore the use of body, voice, and imagination to create characters, learn ensemble-building and acting techniques, and work through the rehearsal process.
There are entry points in the program for students to join at any time and at any level of experience, as classes scaffold and are designed to build skills overtime. Each session ends in a sharing for family and friends to celebrated skills learned throughout the session.
Musical Theatre
Grades 4-5 and Grade 6-8
Success on the musical theatre stage requires high levels of technique in three disciplines: singing, dancing, and acting. Students will strengthen skills and learn to tell stories through the art of musical theatre by learning and rehearsing musical theatre scenes, songs, and show-stopping dance numbers. Each Musical Theatre class is co-taught by two instructors – one dance instructor & one vocal music instructor.
