Spend Spring Break with Stages Theatre Company
at the Minnesota Children’s Museum!

Stages Theatre Company is thrilled to partner with Minnesota Children’s Museum to bring School Break Workshops to the most playful place in town! Students will have the opportunity to engage in Stages Theatre Company’s workshop programming, creating characters and solving problems using our “Actor Tools” (body, voice, imagination), while also exploring all the exhibits that Minnesota Children’s Museum has to offer! Families are invited to a sharing of skills learned throughout the week on the last day of workshop. Spend spring break singing, dancing, playing, and imagining at Stages! Spring Break Workshop tuition can be split into a payment plan by calling the Box Office at 952-979-1111.

Tuition assistance is available through STC’s Open Door Program. Stages Theatre Company offers need-based tuition assistance for all fee-based programs, such as Summer Theatre Workshop. Please fill out the Tuition Assistance Application via the button below. Tuition assistance applications are processed in the order in which they are received and may take 3-5 days to return.

Stages Theatre Company is committed to addressing barriers that can restrict participation in our performances and programming. We believe that every individual should be able to access the joy, wonder, and benefits of participation in the theatre arts.  We are working towards a future beyond compliance – toward a fully inclusive environment where all programs and performances are accessible to all. Parents are encouraged to contact the Access Coordinator, Rachel Olson, rolson@stagestheatre.org prior to enrollment to discuss accommodations and support strategies to ensure a successful experience at Summer Theatre Workshop.  

Please register your student according to the grade level they are currently in or the age that they will be on the first day of the workshop. Students should only enroll in workshops intended for their age at the start of workshop, or grade level in the Fall of 2025. Although we understand that skill and maturity levels vary, younger students may not register up a grade level for any reason. If you’d like your student to register for a class that they have aged out of, please contact ejones@stagestheatre.org.

Online registrants will receive an automatic confirmation via email from ticketbooth@stagestheatre.org. If you do not see this confirmation, please check spam, junk, or promotions folders, and save Stages as a safe sender.

Welcome Email

3 weeks prior to your student’s workshop, a welcome email will be sent to the emails provided at the time of registration.  

Please check spam, junk, or promotions folders if you do not see an email three weeks prior to your student’s workshop. Emails will come from ejones@stagestheatre.org or mcollins@stagestheatre.org.

Let us know if your student is attending with a friend so that we can ensure that they are placed in the same group as their friend. Winter Theatre Workshops often have multiple sections within the same class title. 

If you provided this information in your registration, we have already noted that information. 

If you would like to add a “Friend Request” post-registration, contact Elinor Jones, Education Registrar, at ejones@stagestheatre.org letting us know your student’s name and their friend’s name. 

Please provide this information at least 5 days prior to the start of class.  

You may cancel your workshop up to TWO WEEKS prior to the first day of workshop, for any reason and receive a full refund – minus the $10 handling fee. Call the Box Office at 952-979-1111.

  • STC does not offer funds for registrations canceled less than two weeks before the class/workshop starts for any reason. This includes scheduling conflicts and student illness.
  • STC does not offer refunds or make-up classes/workshops for classes cancelled due to inclement weather.

Spring Break Workshop policies and procedures

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT Instructions

Check-in will be inside the museum’s main entrance on West 7th Street. You may temporarily park your vehicle in the loading/unloading zone in front of the main entrance. Metered parking or the World Trade Center parking ramp are also options.  

Students should check in no earlier than 15 minutes before camp starts. An adult must be present with any student that arrives earlier.  

Students must be signed in by an adult each day. An adult must pick up and sign out the student each day. Students will only be released to an authorized adult after they have been signed out.  

Students should be picked up promptly at the end of class. Please call 651-225-6056 if you are going to be late. If your student is not picked up within 15 minutes of the end of class and you have not contacted the museum, emergency contacts will be contacted.

Early Pick-Ups and Late Drop-Offs
Please inform us of early pick-ups at Drop-Off on the day. To inform us of absences or late drop-offs, please
email the STC Education Registrar or call Minnesota Children’s Museum, 651-225-6056. Please include your child’s name and workshop location and/or title in your message. 

During Class Time
Please call the Box Office at 952-979-1111, or email Elinor Jones, Education Registrar, ejones@stagestheatre.org. If there is no answer, please leave a message and someone will get back to you shortly.

We are STRICTLY nut-free (no peanuts or tree nuts).  

  • FOOD & WATER: Please bring 1 water bottle, 2 snacks (AM and PM), 1 lunch in a labeled bag. Stages Theatre Company is STRICTLY nut free (no peanuts or tree nuts), and food sharing is not permitted. Vending machines are not available. No refrigeration or warming options are available. If your student has specific food allergy concerns and you’d like to speak to a camp administrator, please email the STC Education Registrar.
  • CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Students should wear comfortable clothing suitable and appropriate for movement. Students should wear shoes with backs. This workshop will not go outside. 

Please Note: The Minnesota Children’s Museum is not a nut-free facility. If you have additional allergen concerns, please email the STC Education Registrar. 

There will be a flyer available each day for parents/caregivers to grab that will offer $2 off for adults and other children. Campers will have free admission. This coupon works anytime between the start of camp thru the summer.

Campers can stay and play on the last day of camp or come back on a Saturday later to play and still be free. They just need to grab the flyer. 

Families and their guests are invited to a Last Day Sharing on Friday from 3:30-4:00 pm. Please wait outside the classroom until the teaching artist lets folks in. The classroom is directly inside the museum’s main entrance on West 7th Street. Park in the World Trade Center parking structure and MCM will validate. Check-in for your student will still be at 9:00 am that morning. Costumes for students are allowed but NOT required. Please do not purchase anything for the Last Day Sharing. Costumes should be comfortable, easy to move in, and have close-backed shoes. Students will have time to change during the day and should not plan to wear their costumes all day. 

The safety & well-being of our students, staff and teaching artists is our top priority. Students who are sick are kindly asked to stay home to help mitigate the spread of illness and germs.

Winter Workshop policies and procedures

Curbside Drop Off Instructions
  1. Ten minutes prior to the start of class, Stages Theatre Company Administrators will be ready to begin drop off. Administrators will be outside with clipboards in hand.

  2. On Mainstreet, there will be a yellow Stages sign close to 12thAvenue. Pull into the open space closest to the Stages sign and wait for an Administrator with a clipboard to approach your vehicle.

  3. Please stay in your vehicle with your student. Our staff will approach the vehicle’s passenger-side window. On the first day, we will check Emergency Contacts’ phone numbers. If you assist your child in getting out of the vehicle, you are welcome to do so.

  4. The Administrator will escort the student inside to meet their teacher and fellow classmates.

Walk-In Drop Off Instructions

*Please note, Administrators will prioritize Curbside Drop Off for student safety.

  1. Please utilize legal street parking or Hopkins City lot parking.

  2. Enter the Hopkins Center for the Arts via the main entrance at the East end of the building, Mainstreet and 11thAvenue. We will be congregating at the West end of the building.

  3. Please wait with your student until approached by an Administrator with a clipboard. If multiple families choose to walk in, please form a line. On the first day, we will check Emergency Contacts’ phone numbers.

  4. The Administrator will escort the student to meet their teacher and fellow classmates.

  5. If you would like to meet your student’s Teaching Artist and wait with them until they begin class, please let the Administrator know. Otherwise, you are welcome to leave after the Administrator checks your student in.

Regardless of how you choose to drop off on the first day, you are welcome to participate in Curbside Drop Off in the future.

Pick Up will operate similarly to drop off. Pull into the next open spot on Mainstreet, an Administrator will approach your vehicle and ask who you are picking up. Administrators will bring your student to your vehicle. If you park and enter the lobby, please wait until a Stages Theatre Company staff member dismisses your student to leave with them.

Half-Day Workshops

FOOD & WATER: 1 water bottle, 1 snack. Stages Theatre Company is STRICTLY nut free (no peanuts or tree nuts), and food sharing is not permitted. Vending machines are not available.

CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Students should wear comfortable clothing suitable and appropriate for movement. Students should wear shoes with closed toes and backs. 

PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Only students in Grades 7 – 12 will be able to access personal electronic devices during class breaks; we recommend all other students leave personal electronic devices at home. Students are not able to share screens of personal devices at any time. Should your student require a personal electronic device for medical purposes, please contact ejones@stagestheatre.org

Full-Day Workshops

Change in Pick-Up Schedule: Inform us of early pick-ups, alternate pick up/drop off drivers, carpools, midday appointments, etc. at DROP OFF.

Winter Theatre Workshop administrators will contact all families of absent students.

Finalized last day sharing information will be shared during your student’s workshop week, and reminders will be sent home with your student.
