Leo Lionni’s Caldecott-winning book, Inch By Inch, is back! Our youngest theatre goers will be immersed in the whimsical and sweet story that dares to ask, “Can a song be measured?”. Meet up with our winsome inchworm who can measure anything under the sun and help him cleverly solve the dilemma of how to measure the song of the hungry nightingale.

Author
Leo Lionni – Leo wrote and illustrated more than 40 highly acclaimed children’s books. He received the 1984 American Institute of Graphic Arts Gold Medal and was a four-time Caldecott Honor Winner—for Inch by Inch, Frederick, Swimmy, and Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse.

Matt Ouren
Composer
Matt Ouren – Matt is the Education Coordinator at Stages Theatre and when he is not teaching and coordinating, he can be seen performing on stage. He has appeared in over 35 productions at Stages and worked on many more. Some of his favorites include Jack Scarecrow in Spookley the Square Pumpkin and Hermey the Dentist Elf in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Inch by Inch was the first Theatre for the Very Young show Matt composed music for eight years ago and he is excited to add and expand the music that started his TFVY journey.

Swimmy-stunning design work and a wonderful ensemble with which to create, Dandelion Seed as our first TFVY, working with Jim & Nate & Abbee to create it; Zen Shorts for its zen-like process, so peaceful and beautiful to work on; Edward Tulane for its visual beauty; How I Became a Pirate – both here and on the tour to Bath, England; You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, beautiful, entertaining and so much talent. Wow, I better stop now. I could go on.
