Founded in 1984, Stages Theatre Company has grown to become one of the largest and most respected professional theatres for young audiences in the country.  The company is a recognized leader and has received regional and national awards for its work in the theatre arts and arts education.  STC operates out of the Hopkins Center for the Arts, a 37,000 square foot multi-disciplinary art facility located on Mainstreet in the heart of downtown Hopkins.  The company serves over 130,000 young people and their families annually through its production, education and in-school outreach programs. 
 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Clerk / Bookkeeper is responsible for providing administrative support to the accounting function of Stages Theatre Company. This is a key role in the day-to-day operations of the organization and is an in-office position. Duties include managing accounts payable and receivable, and processing payroll. Additional responsibilities include management of the facilities and office equipment. The Accounting Clerk possesses a broad array of skills and abilities including familiarity with accounting methodology and software, strong organization skills, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
 

Key areas of responsibility

  • Manage accounts payable; ensure timely payment of all invoices.
  • Manage accounts receivable; prepare invoices and follow up on past due accounts.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare and process employment contracts for employees and independent contractors.
  • Prepare and process payroll for wage and contract employees.
  • Complete month-end reporting tasks, including account reconciliations.
  • Provide support for the annual financial audit.
  • Maintain STC’s Chart of Accounts.
  • Manage STC’s state and federal tax responsibilities.
  • Supervise the maintenance of office equipment.
  • Manage records retention for the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Passionate about STC’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience, with solid knowledge of bookkeeping procedures.
  • Proficiency with systems, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications. A high level of skill in Excel, including proficiency in advanced features, functions, and techniques beyond basic data entry and manipulation, is a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
  • Ability to engage respectfully and professionally with people of different values and styles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset: values new ideas and opportunities to improve accounting processes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
A successful Accounting Clerk will ensure that STC’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively while supporting all functions in a small office environment.

 

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Starting salary range is $48,000 to $51,000. Stages Theatre Company also offers a positive work environment, excellent benefits, a flexible schedule, and a mission you can stand behind.

Box Office Associate / House Manager

Reports to: Director of Audience Services / Box Office Manager
Job type: Part-time/flexible: weekday/weekend/evening shifts available
Salary: $12-$15 per hour depending on qualifications
Deadline: Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
Stages Theatre Company is looking for independent, responsible, outgoing individuals who excel at customer service to fill immediate openings. Box Office Associates/House Managers will provide quality customer service to patrons in a manner that is consistent with the Stages Theatre Company’s mission and values. Just 15 minutes from Uptown Minneapolis, 30 minutes via metro transit, Stages Theatre Company is proudly located in the Hopkins Center for the Arts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Box Office Associate

  • Answer ticket office phone lines, emails and help patrons in person at the ticket office in a pleasant and effective manner, providing a consistently high level of customer service.

  • Sell merchandise during performances.

  • Process single ticket, season ticket, and theatre class/camps orders by phone, mail/email, or in- person. Distribute will-call tickets and assist in sales on the day of events.

  • Work closely with the Box Office Supervisor to complete necessary data entry, paperwork and procedures for accurate record keeping and sales.

  • Accurately process all forms of payment for reservations, including cash.

  • Attend training and meetings as required; other tasks as assigned.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities – House Manager

  • Serve as a house manager during performances.

  • Instruct, assist and serve as a point of contact for event volunteers.

  • Communicate with stage management to ensure a timely house open and house closed.

  • Manage the seating of large school groups during daytime performances.

  • Attend to audience disruptions in a timely and effective manner. (Photographs, videos, outbursts, ect…)

  • Attend training and meetings as required; other tasks as assigned.

  • QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school degree or equivalent required.

  • Puts the patron experience at the forefront.

  • Must be flexible in work hours: evenings & weekends required.

  • Knowledge of industry practices.

  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry as well as the skills necessary to learn new systems.

  • Cash handling experience.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Comfortable switching back-and-forth between tasks on a regular basis.

  • Punctual.

  • Experience with Tessitura ticketing system is helpful, but not required.

  • Experience using a CRM or ticketing system preferred.
