THE DOT: Virtual Field Trip
Available beginning January 15, 2021
$150 per classroom - $100 per additional classroom in the same school & same grade

Bring the magic of theatrical performance to your classroom, virtually! The Dot Virtual Field Trip will allow students the opportunity to see a beloved book translated into a dance & theatre performance. Included in the Virtual Field Trip is a classroom copy of The Dot by Peter Reynolds, pre-recorded videos (Pre-Show and Post-Show) with STC Teaching Artists as well as additional curricular supports to further connections to theatre arts, language arts, fine arts and dance to continue student learning continue student learning surrounding the social-emotional learning themes found in The Dot.

Looking for a more in-depth experience? Bring a Teaching Artist to your classroom for a LIVE Virtual Residency for an additional $100 per classroom.

RESIDENCY: Social & Emotional Learning through The Dot
$250 per classroom - $150 per additional classroom in the same school & same grade

Maximize your Virtual Field Trip, by adding on a personalized theatre residency centered on the social and emotional learning component of The Dot. Guided by a STC Teaching Artist, students will participate in FOUR 30-minute live virtual theatre classes on Google Meet or Zoom. Students will utilize their “Actor Toolbox” (body, voice, imagination) to identify & perform characters from The Dot, explore varying points of view within the story, and focus on words and phrases that suggest feelings. This curriculum was developed in partnership with Minneapolis Public Schools & “The Zones of Regulation” Self-Regulation and Emotional Control” framework and can be tailored to your district’s specific curriculum.

STONE SOUP: Virtual Field Trip
Available beginning February 16, 2021
$150 per classroom - $100 per additional classroom in the same school & same grade

A Stone Soup Virtual Field Trip will allow students the opportunity to see a famed folktale translated into a musical theatre performance. Included in the Virtual Field Trip is a classroom copy of Stone Soup, pre-recorded videos (Pre-Show and Post-Show) with STC Teaching Artists, as well asadditional curricular supports to further connections to theatre arts, language arts (spotlighting folktales, fables, and Readers Theatre), fine arts and culinary arts to continue student learning surrounding the themes of Stone Soup.

Looking for a more in-depth experience? Bring a Teaching Artist to your classroom for a LIVE Virtual Residency for an additional $100 per classroom.

RESIDENCY: Folktales, Fables & Myths with Stone Soup
$250 per classroom - $150 per additional classroom in the same school & same grade

Maximize your Virtual Field Trip, by adding on a personalized theatre residency exploring, comparing, and contrasting folktales and fables. Guided by a STC Teaching Artist, students will participate in FOUR 30-minute live virtual theatre classes on Google Meet or Zoom. Students will utilize their “Actor Toolbox” (body, voice, imagination) to identify & perform stories (fables, folktales, and myths), describing and playing characters with varying points of view, motivations, and feelings.

This curriculum was developed to support Common Core ELA Standards for Grades 2 & 3 in partnership with Stages Theatre Company’s production of Stone Soup.

VIRTUAL FIELDTRIP & RESIDENCY
An Author’s Journey: Edward Tulane
Available beginning January 4, 2021

All Content is Pre-Recorded and can be done on your own schedule
Includes:
  • A viewing of the Stages Theatre Company's production of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
  • Interactive Learning Modules (Flip Grid, Schoology or Seesaw compatible) connected to ELA Common Core Standards, and a Virtual Study Guide complete with additional activity suggestions
  • Pre-Show & Post Show Pre-Recorded Discussions with Director, Jeannine Coulombe
  • Want a more in-depth experience? Pair your Virtual Field Trip with a Page To Stage Adaptation Residency and allow your students a chance to jump into the roles of Playwright & Actor, as they write and perform original scenes inspired by The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. See more below!

    RESIDENCY: PAGE TO STAGE ADAPTATION – AN AUTHOR’S JOURNEY
    ($250 per classroom, $150 per additional classroom in same school and same grade)
    Expand your Virtual Field Trip experience with a Page to Stage Residency, led by Teaching Artist and Director of New Play Development, Jeannine Coulombe. Personalized for your classroom, students will participate in four live virtual lessons to learn about adapting narrative writing into dramatic writing. After reading the novel, students will analyze a short passage from the book and adapt it into a dramatic scene, and perform it for their classmates.
    Includes all components of the READ AND WATCH experience, including a viewing of the Stages Theatre Company's production of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Interactive Learning Modules, Virtual Study Guide, & Pre-Recorded Video Discussions with Director, Jeannine Coulombe.
