The OUT OF THE BOX residency packages are flexible and designed to fit the needs of your classroom. Stages Theatre Company can incorporate a live virtual teaching artist, Flip-Grid and video content to fit the structure of your lesson planning.

Grades K-2

SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN: Virtual Field Trip + Residency
$150 per classroom - $100 additional classroom in same school and same grade

The actors from the production, alongside Stages Theatre Company professional Teaching Artists join you in your classroom via video conferencing and recorded-video lessons. This interactive curriculum is designed to engage students in writing and reading comprehension with a focus on anti-bullying. Your classroom will receive five days’ worth of 30-minute workshops with 15-20 minutes of video and 10-15 minutes of off-screen activities. Pair your classroom experience with an opportunity to virtually meet the Actors, and take a peak behind the scenes. This curriculum is curated to meet core standards in reading, writing and theatre arts. Your residency will culminate in a full electronic viewing of Stages Theatre Company’s 2019 production of Spookley the Square Pumpkin.

AN AUTHOR’S JOURNEY : EDWARD TULANE

OPTION 1: READ & WATCH
($150 per classroom, $100 per additional classroom in same school and same grade)
All Content is Pre-Recorded and can be done on your own schedule
Includes:
  • 5 Interactive Learning Modules (Flip Grid, Schoology or Seesaw compatible)
  • A Study Guide connected to core standards with additional education activity suggestions
  • Pre-Show & Post Show Pre-Recorded Discussions with Director, Jeannine Coulombe
  • A viewing of the Stages Theatre Company's production of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.

  • OPTION 2: PAGE TO STAGE ADAPTATION RESIDENCY
    ($200 per classroom, $150 per additional classroom in same school and same grade)
    Led by Teaching Artist and Director of New Play Development Jeannine Coulombe, students will participate in lessons to learn about adapting narrative writing into dramatic writing. After reading the novel, students will analyze a short passage from the book and adapt it into a dramatic scene. Then, they will watch the full adaptation with the video performance.
