WINTER THEATRE WORKSHOPS

Spend winter break singing, dancing, playing, and imagining at Stages! Winter Theatre Workshops are taught by professional teaching artists and are designed to give students an opportunity to get creative, make friends, explore the arts, and have a whole lot of fun over winter break!

  • Starlight Storytime (Ages 4-6)


    There’s a world of possibilities way up in the sky! Together, we’ll play and explore using our Actor Tools and our favorite star stories: The North Star, The Star Keeper and Zoo in the Sky. Join us for an imaginative adventure as we chart a path through the constellations using our bodies, voices and imaginations!
    Tuition: $95.00 (includes $5 handling fee)

    Sing & Dance: Elf & Jingle Jangle (Grades 1-3)


    Make this winter break “sparklejollytwinklejingley” by spending it with Journey Jangle and Buddy the Elf! Develop musical theatre skills as you learn hit songs and dances from Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and Elf The Musical such as “Square Root of Possible,” “Magic Man G” and “Sparklejollytwinklejingley!”

  • Create-A-Play: Heroes and Villains (Grades 1-3 )


    What would happen if a hero with magical powers challenged an evil villain to a unicorn race in a mythical land far, far, away ruled by dogs & cats? Let’s create a play about it and find out! Students will spend winter break using their Actor Tools to develop, create and rehearse an original devised story direct from their imagination!
    Tuition: $250.00 (includes $5 handling fee)

    Spotlight on Slapstick (Grades 4-6)


    Learn the art of humor by taking a deep dive into different styles and genres of comedy! Professional teaching artists will guide students through four genres of comedy: Physical Comedy (Slapstick), Sketch Comedy, Improvisation and Spoof/Satire. Learn how to make ‘em laugh (and have some laughs of your own) this winter break!
    Tuition: $250.00 (includes $5 handling fee)

    Broadway Unplugged (Grades 4-6)


    Harness your song and dance skills this winter break, by digging into musical numbers from hit Broadway shows such as: Tuck Everlasting, Wicked, and Waitress. We’re taking big Broadway musicals and stripping away the glitz, glam, splash and spectacle to focus on the mechanics: character choices, dance as storytelling, musical harmony, and ensemble performance.
    Tuition: $250.00 (includes $5 handling fee)

    PROCEDURES + COVID SAFETY POLICIES


    FACE COVERINGS

     

    Masks are required for all students, faculty, interns and staff, regardless of vaccination status, for all Winter Theatre Workshop classes.

     

    • Face shields and neck gaiters are not considered acceptable face coverings
    • Should your student require a face covering accommodation, the Education Director must be notified and approve of the accommodation prior to the first day of class

     

    LUNCH & SNACK BREAKS

     

    Masks will be removed for lunch & snack breaks; lunch will take place inside, and all students will maintain 6 feet of distance during lunch & snack breaks.

     

    What to Bring:

     

    • FULL DAY WORKSHOPS: 1 Lunch, 2 Snacks (AM & PM), 1 Water Bottle
    • HALF DAY WORKSHOPS: 1 Snack, 1 Water Bottle

     

    Stages Theatre Company is STRICTLY nut free: please do not send any peanut, tree nut, or nut products in your student’s lunch or snack.

     

    SOCIAL DISTANCING

     

    Stages Theatre Company teaching artists will adapt in-class activities to allow for at least 3 feet of distancing whenever possible.

     

    • Class sizes continue to be reduced for student safety: Ages 4-6 (max. 10), Grades 1-6 (max. 14)

     

    HAND WASHING, AIR FILTRATION, AND CLEANING

     

    • All students will be required to wash hands or sanitize at the beginning of each day, and before and after touching any provided materials (markers, props, etc.)
    • HVAC systems in all STC Education locations have been updated to allow for optimal air filtration
    • Classroom spaces and bathrooms are professionally sanitized and cleaned frequently

     

    DROP OFF

     

    We will begin checking students in NO EARLIER than 10 MINUTES prior to class start.

     

    Students can be dropped off at the Main Entrance of the Hopkins Center for the Arts using the loading zone on Mainstreet

     

    1. Pull into the open space closest to the Stages sign at the end of the block
    2. Please STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE. Our staff will meet students at the vehicle.
    3. A brief COVID screening questionnaire will be completed each day at your vehicle; students with COVID-19 symptoms will not permitted in class unless they present a negative COVID-19 test. Please stay home if your student is sick.
    4. Our staff will walk students into the building to begin class!

     

    **Emergency Contact numbers will also be confirmed on Day 1**

     

    Please Note: We will NOT be allowing adults to enter the building during drop off and pick up as a COVID-19 safety protocol.

     

    PICK UP

     

    Pick up will begin promptly at the end of class.

    FRIEND REQUESTS

     

    Let us know if your student is attending WINTER THEATRE WORKSHOP with a friend!

    • Send an email to ticketbooth@stagestheatre.org letting us know your student’s name and their friend’s name at least 7 days prior to the start of class and we will make sure your student and their friend are in the same group.

     

    LAST DAY SHARING

     

    Two adults (and any minors in their care) per student are invited to join students and teaching artists for the last 30 minutes of class on the last day of workshop for a sharing of skills learned.

     

    Masks and social distancing will be required for all attendees above the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status.

     

    CANCELLATION POLICY

     

    You may cancel your workshop at any point, for any reason by Friday, December 10th and receive a full refund – minus the $5 handling fee. Call the Box Office at 952-979-1111, option 4.
