Spend winter break singing, dancing, playing, and imagining at Stages! Winter Theatre Workshops are taught by professional teaching artists and are designed to give students an opportunity to get creative, make friends, explore the arts, and have a whole lot of fun over winter break!

DECEMBER 27 – 29, 2023
Dragon Drama! (Ages 4-6)
Dragons Love Tacos is coming to the Stages Theatre Company stage next year, but we can’t wait to host the ultimate taco party! Using Adam Rubin’s best-selling books as our jumping off point, we’ll use our Actor Tools to dive into the hilarious tales of taco-obsessed dragons (Dragons Love Tacos), pizza-loving raccoons (Secret Pizza Party) & scaredy-cat monsters (Big Bad Bubble).
Tuition: $110.00 (includes $5 handling fee)

Tales As Old As Time (Ages 4-6)
From Beauty and the Beast, to The Little Mermaid, many of our most beloved tales begin with “Once Upon a Time,” and end with “Happily Ever After.” Using our Actor Tools (body, voice & imagination), we’ll explore enchanted castles & kingdoms, playing the princes, princesses, and magical creatures that inhabit these timeless & treasured fairytales.

Sing & Dance: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Grades 1-3)
Kick off your winter break working with Stages Theatre Company teaching artists as you sing and dance to the music of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR! We’ll learn and rehearse songs from the beloved movie-turned-Broadway musical, including “Be Our Guest,” “Gaston,” and more! As a special opportunity, students will go on a guided backstage tour of STC’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR.

Calling all ocean explorers! Escape the chilly weather this winter break and head under the sea with us. STC music & dance teaching artists will use favorite tunes from the upcoming Stages Theatre Company production, Disney’s Finding Nemo JR, and beloved classics such as The Little Mermaid & Moana to explore the musical, magical world of the ocean

Scene Study: Roald Dahl (Grades 4-6)
Strengthen your actor tools this winter break by jumping into the adapted works of Roald Dahl. From Matilda, to Wonka, to James and the Giant Peach, Roald Dahl’s fantastical worlds will ignite your imagination as you learn the fundamentals of analyzing a script, playing a character with intention, and telling a story to an audience.

Winter Theatre Workshop tuition can be split into a payment plan by calling the Box Office at 952-979-1111.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
Tuition assistance is available through STC’s Open Door Program. Stages Theatre Company offers need-based tuition assistance for all fee-based programs, such as Summer Theatre Workshop. Please fill out the Tuition Assistance Application via the button below. Tuition assistance applications are processed in the order in which they are received and may take 3-5 days to return.

ACCESSIBILITY
Stages Theatre Company is committed to addressing barriers that can restrict participation in our performances and programming. We believe that every individual should be able to access the joy, wonder, and benefits of participation in the theatre arts. AGE/RISING GRADE LEVELS POLICY
Please register your student according to the grade level they are currently in or the age that they will be on the first day of the workshop. Students should only enroll in workshops intended for their age at the start of workshop, or grade level in the Fall of 2023. Although we understand that skill and maturity levels vary, younger students may not register up a grade level for any reason. If you’d like your student to register for a class that they have aged out of, please contact ejones@stagestheatre.org.

Welcome Email
- 3 weeks prior to your student’s workshop a welcome email will be sent to the email provided at the time of registration.
- Please check spam, junk, or promotions folders if you do not see an email three weeks prior to your student’s workshop. Emails will come from ejones@stagestheatre.org or mcollins@stagestheatre.org.
REGISTERING WITH A FRIEND
Let us know if your student is attending with a friend so that we can ensure that they are placed in the same group as their friend. Winter Theatre Workshops often have multiple sections within the same class title.
- If you provided this information in your registration, we have already noted that information.
- If you would like to add a “Friend Request” post-registration, contact Elinor Jones, Education Registrar, at ejones@stagestheatre.org letting us know your student’s name and their friend’s name.
- Please provide this information at least 5 days prior to the start of class.
CANCELLATION POLICY
You may cancel your workshop up to THREE WEEKS prior to the first day of camp, for any reason and receive a full refund – minus the $5 handling fee. Call the Box Office at 952-979-1111.

DROP OFF
We will begin checking students in NO EARLIER than 10 MINUTES prior to class start.
- Upon arrival at Hopkins Center for the Arts look for the YELLOW “WELCOME” SIGN. This sign designates the loading zone & the start of the drop off & pick-up line. Stages staff and interns will be outside guiding you to the right location.
- Pull up to the Yellow “Welcome” Sign, or the next available spot in the line.
- PLEASE STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE. Staff will meet students at the vehicle.
- A brief check-in will be completed at your vehicle. Emergency contact numbers will be checked on the first day of class.
- Staff will walk students into the building to begin class!

Half-Day Workshops
- FOOD & WATER: 1 water bottle, 1 snack. Stages Theatre Company is STRICTLY nut free (no peanuts or tree nuts), and food sharing is not permitted. Vending machines are not available.
- If your student has specific food allergy concerns and you’d like to speak to a camp administrator, please contact ejones@stagestheatre.org.
- CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Students should wear comfortable clothing suitable and appropriate for movement. Students should wear shoes with closed toes and backs.
- PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Only students in Grades 7 – 12 will be able to access personal electronic devices during class breaks; we recommend all other students leave personal electronic devices at home. Students are not able to share screens of personal devices at any time. Should your student require a personal electronic device for medical purposes, please contact ejones@stagestheatre.org.

LAST DAY SHARING
Finalized last day sharing information will be shared during your student's workshop week, and reminders will be sent home with your student.
COVID-19 POLICIES
The safety & well-being of our students, staff and teaching artists is our top priority, and we reserve the right to change our protocols if community levels of COVID-19 rise in our area.
Face Masks: Masks are optional for all Education Programs & Classes at this time. Stages Theatre Company Education Programs will follow the updated guidelines regarding face masks put forth by the MDH. Stages Theatre Company will not be checking students’ vaccination status at this time.
Positive COVID-19 Cases: If your student tests positive for COVID-19 while enrolled in a Summer Theatre Workshop, please notify Stages Education Director, Megan Collins, mcollins@stagestheatre.org, as soon as possible. If your student tests positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, they will be required to stay home for at least 5 days.
Close Contact Protocols: Your family will be notified by a Stages staff member if your student is in “close contact” with someone who tests positive for COVID-19. Students may be required to wear a well-fitting mask following close contact exposure.
Student Health: Students who are sick are kindly asked to stay home to help mitigate the spread of illness and germs. If your student is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they will NOT be permitted in class, without proof of a negative test, regardless of vaccination status.
